MFW #6: DSquared2 | Autumn/Winter 2014-15: Ready-To-Wear

- DSQUARED2 -
The Caten twins have killed it this season. This collection oozes a fantastic theatrical nature whilst being simultaneously wearable. Malaika Firth was the model of choice to open the show, flanked by two DSquared2 fashionista body guards, dressed head to toe in white. The show featured fairly simple pieces with just the right amount of embellishment - be it feathers, beading or fur - sprinkled across each look. The operatic drama of the black and emerald look on the first row is truly show stopping, whilst the penultimate photo cries glorious feminine charm. What an ineffably pretty collection.

MFW #5: Dolce & Gabbana, MSGM | Autumn-Winter 2014-15: Ready-To-Wear

- DOLCE & GABBANA -
A flawless and enchanting collection by Dolce & Gabbana. Red riding hood inspired coats, antique keys, florals and plenty of woodland creatures, this collection takes us into a whole other realm, escaping from the hard, day-to-day looks of collections gone by. The Dolce & Gabbana signature silhouette (mini dress, 3/4 length sleeves) is renewed once again with various patterns and fabrics, whilst the finale was a literally sparkling end to an other worldly show. Well done D&G.

- MSGM -
I just love the florals in this collection. From the opening black and burnt orange looks as we saw in the Veronica Beard collection at NYFW, to the beautiful and mysterious silver and navy suit at the end, florals are evidently not just for spring. I love the masculine coats presented here, especially when injected with feminine pinks and pretty beiges. Also, be prepared for your feet to thank you come Autumn, because flats are most definitely in again.

MFW #4: Roberto Cavalli, Emilio Pucci | Autumn/Winter 2014-15: Ready-To-Wear

- ROBERTO CAVALLI -
A collection full of animal prints, flapper dresses, and dramatic collars is not one to be missed. The Roaring Twenties inspired looks seem to also have a hint of Wild West embellishment, such as the fringing and wide, feather shaped layers of many of the hemlines, reminding us of Native Indian headdresses. Aside from the stunning beaded flapper dresses, Roberto Cavalli also presented us with some gorgeous tailored looks, putting excessively patterned trousers very much on my radar. I will also be making a point in light of this collection to invest in an oversized faux fur collar, for nothing else seems to add drama like it.

- EMILIO PUCCI -
There has been a distinctly Western feel to the last few days of fashion season; the move away from the largely grey and muted pastel prints of NYFW has been replaced by sumptuous olive tones as well as burgandies and bright reds, not to mention excessive colourful patterning. Emilio Pucci's collection was stocked full of these elements, showing tassels and cowboy style boots, particularly in the first image. Izabel Goulart's look is making me want to invest in some green leather trousers (not something I've lusted after before now), whilst Devon Windsor's final gown reminds me of a Zuhair Murad creation. As in Roberto Cavalli, the fusion between flapper girl and Wild West has created an unlikely yet stunning partnership, something we can perhaps all look to next Autumn.
