One Day in Dubai

Last month, I had the chance to visit Abu Dhabi for 10 days, and go to Dubai for one of them. My boyfriend has family living in the Middle East, so it was the perfect opportunity to escape the English rain and spend some quality time with them. There will be a full post on Abu Dhabi following this one, but for now I simply couldn't withhold my photos from Dubai - particularly from the Instagram-famous Miracle Gardens - a minute longer! Without further ado, here's what we got up to in our one day in Dubai...

The Dubai Miracle Garden
I first stumbled across the Miracle Garden on Instagram, and upon finding out that it was in Dubai, I knew we had to go during our time in Abu Dhabi (Travel Tip: Dubai is just an hour's taxi from Abu Dhabi, costing around £40 each way, so definitely more affordable than spending a night there). The Miracle Garden was like nothing I've ever seen before. We beat the heat and went first thing in the morning, which was lucky as the place was filling up by 11am and would have made the below photos much trickier to take. The Garden is easy to navigate and doesn't take long to get around, but they have the most magical selection of floral monuments, from divine heart and butterfly archways, to giant bears and even an Emirates plane.

The above photo is a particularly special one for me, as my late Nanna whose vintage skirt I'm wearing here was a real garden enthusiast, and I know she would have loved the Miracle Garden.

Downtown Dubai
Just as the day began to heat up, we drove over to Downtown Dubai, which if you're a visitor with a limited amount of time, is the perfect spot. Downtown Dubai plays host to the Dubai Mall (slightly terrifying aquarium included), the Dubai Fountains, and of course, the tallest building in the world, the Burj Khalifa. We took a stroll through the Mall and paid an obligatory visit to the Cheesecake Factory (obvs) then caught the Fountain show (Travel Tip: the Fountain Show only happens twice in the daytime, at 1pm and 1.30pm, lasting around 5-10 minutes. I assumed it would be every half hour as it is in the evening, so I was very glad that we checked!) With full tummies and slightly damp feet - thank you fountains - we took to the top of Burj Khalifa to see the spectacular views of the city, the ocean and the desert.

Jumeirah Beach Resort
With limited time left before our ride back to Abu Dhabi, we took one last taxi over to the Jumeirah Beach area. We had originally intended to see the Marina, but thanks to a slightly rogue taxi driver and a bit of a miscommunication, we ended up on a lively beach front next to a bustling piazza. The Marina will just have to wait until next time!

I hope you enjoyed this look inside our day in Dubai, and keep an eye out for The Abu Dhabi Diaries post coming soon. There are a tonne of places in Dubai that we didn't manage to get to, so please let me know in the comments below where you would recommend if we were to go again.

Until next time,
