The Autumn Tag and Beauty Favourites

With my main focus being on Fashion Month the last few weeks, I really felt like it was time to get down to a more wordy and less solely fashion focused post today. Seeing as I've spent a large amount of this weekend wandering around my local town in a big scarf looking at festive homeware and considering the weather is finally cooling off here in the UK, I thought I'd track down an Autumn Tag to get even more excited about one of my most-loved seasons! Here are just a few of the beauty products I've been loving lately; read all about my general Autumn favourites so far below.

1. What’s your favourite seasonal drink from Starbucks or another coffee shop?

I really don't like coffee, so all of the exciting festive drinks that make an appearance at this time of year are sadly lost on me. I am an avid hot chocolate drinker all year round though, so when October hits I often find myself going for a hazelnut syrup in my Signature Hot Chocolate, or if I'm at home I'll sometimes sprinkle in a little bit of cinnamon to my Cadbury's mix.

2. Accessories – what do you opt for, scarf, boots, gloves?
All of the above, though primarily boots and scarves. I am a total ankle boot fiend and have an unnecessarily large collection of scarves that get a lot of airtime come Autumn. For me few things are more simple and chic than a cute jacket, oversized scarf, black skinny jeans and a pair of adorable ankle boots.

3. What’s your favourite music to listen to during Autumn?
I adore really relaxed slow music in the Autumn months, and I made a playlist recently on YouTube that I listen to whenever I'm getting ready or relaxing in the bath. If any of you would like to take a listen I will link it here!

4. What’s your favourite scent for this time of year?
Now this is a question I was very excited to answer! My current favourite scent for this time of year is the new Yves Saint Laurent gourmand fragrance Black Opium pictured above. To anyone with preconceptions about this due to how distinct the original Opium is, abandon them. YSL Beauty have deliberately created a scent and a vibe that is very different to the original fragrance, as you can probably tell if you've seen Edie Campbell escaping from her lover on television. Black coffee top notes, an orange blossom heart and a warm vanilla base, like the house of Saint Laurent Paris as a whole, the fragrance exudes an edgier, youthful and more daring vibe, embodied in the scent's tagline, 'What's stopping you?'

5. What candle scents will you be burning this season?
I am utterly addicted to my Sparkling Spice Winter Warmer candle that you can see in the first image. I mentioned this last year too and had to seriously stop myself from cracking into it earlier on this year, but with the onset of October I've released it upon my house once again. I actually dislike a lot of conventional festive scents as I'm not big on winter berry fragrances which are always super popular at this time of year, but Sparkling Spice is much more warm and woody, and I cannot get enough of it.

6. What do you love most about Autumn?
For one the fashion; as I said in the accessories question, the jeans, boots and scarf look is a real favourite of mine. Secondly, the weather; beautiful crisp days that are frosty in temperature but lit up with sunshine. This kind of weather makes me so giddy for the festive season without being desperate to curl up inside with a furry blanket. Plus - fellow shore dwellers will surely agree - nothing beats a cool walk on the beach during this kind of weather to dust off the cobwebs!

7. What is your favourite makeup look?
Like everyone else, I love a berry or red lip (see MAC's Dubonnet above!), but I also like how much more socially acceptable it becomes to go for a heavy eye in the daytime. Working in cosmetics means that there aren't many boundaries for me where make up is concerned; if I fancy wearing a smoky eye to work one day, no one is going to ask if I'm off clubbing when my shift finishes. If the mood takes you, there is nothing more fun than spending a little longer than usual on your make up in the morning and making an effort, which I always take advantage of in Autumn after a Summer of one slick of mascara only.

8. What are you looking forward to most in Autumn?
Despite being totally obsessed with bikinis, sunbathing and minimal make up in the warm months, I absolutely adore getting layered up. I am the self-appointed Queen of Cosiness, exploiting the opportunity to wear countless jumpers and scarves and add throw after throw onto my bed, burning candles and turning the heating up to ridiculous levels as soon as it gets remotely cold enough. As someone who tends to start getting excited about Christmas in July, Autumn is my time to get everyone else on board with the cooler seasons and all the festivity they bring. Hot chocolates, Christmas decorations arriving in shops and of course, the back to school feelings that Harry Potter incites, this third quarter is one of my absolute favourites.
