The Inspiring Blog Award

Hello everyone!

First of all I want to apologise for not posting for nearly a week; it may not seem like a long time for some people but being away from blogger for 6 days has felt like a very long time. However I have been away to one of my favourite places for that time, so expect a Brighton-filled My Week in Instagram post soon!

I was recently nominated by the lovely Lauren Bayliss over at Lauren Amy Blogs for a Liebster Award, but as you'll know if you've followed me for a while I have been nominated for this award twice before (which you can read here and here). I was also nominated by one of my favourite bloggers Alex Ure of Allurescent for the Inspiring Blog Award, so I'm going to answer Lauren's Liebster questions and then follow the rest of the Inspiring Blog rules.

1. I used to be hideously messy, until last year. I think my Mum must have performed some kind of tidiness transplant in my sleep; I now cannot stand it if there's something on my floor or a book out of place.

2. I lived in Belgium from the age of 3-5 and went to a French school. I was completely fluent and used to refuse to speak English at home! Unfortunately I can barely string a line together anymore, something I will one day change!

3. I could watch The O.C. or listen to the soundtrack for hours on end. In fact I often do.

4. I eat more chocolate than anyone else I know. It's very bad.

5. I lied about my favourite film in my first university film seminar. Everyone else had said foreign films or the ouvre of a director I hadn't heard of. I didn't think Mean Girls would go down so well.

6. I've had six jobs in the past five years. Ten if you include work experience. Lotta retail in there.

7. I've had a Vogue subscription for just short of six years, and recently stacked up all of the issues to make a four foot Vogue tower.

8. One of my lifelong goals is to contribute to an issue of Vogue.

9. I love to travel but am a major home bird. My home is my sanctuary and I need to recharge there and have some me-time after spending a long time out and about.

10. To say I've never studied it and know nothing about it, I am obsessed with architecture. Paris is one of my favourite places in the world purely for how beautiful the buildings are. Parisian corner shops put English skyscrapers to shame.

11. I want to go to New York just before Christmas more than anything ever.

1. What is your favourite thing about blogging?
My favourite thing about blogging would probably be the ability to express my creativity through writing. At the end of my GCSEs I'd originally planned on going to another college for sixth form and carrying on with more artistic subjects (textiles, photography, art etc) before hopefully studying fashion at university. However I actually ended up staying at my school, taking less artistic subjects and now I'm in my final year of university where I've studied Film and Literature. Life story over, blogging is a perfect way for me to get back into my creative side, and also reminds me that writing doesn't just have to be for academic essays.

2. What inspired you to create a blog?
I didn't realise this until recently, but I've actually been blogging since 2007. I think I'd probably seen a fashion blog way back when I was 13 and decided that I wanted to do the same, which is a pretty similar reason as to why I got back into blogging in the last few years!

3. Do you plan on blogging still in the future or is it more or a 'temporary' thing for you?
Absolutely. I really adore blogging and would like to think I'll be doing so for many years to come.

4. What is your favourite app?
Aside from the obvious (Twitter, Instagram, etc) it would have to be SHAREIGHT. I've dedicated a whole post to the app before now as it really is amazing and I am totally addicted to it!

5. If you had to use just one beauty product for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Coconut oil! Look after your skin and the rest will look after itself.

6. What's your favourite 'non-beauty' product?
Again I would have to say coconut oil. Although it's been major in the blogosphere very recently, I started using it when I was in Thailand this time last year as a lot of Thai people use it as a natural suncream. It's also a winner for dry hair.

7. Whats your favourite item of clothing in your wardrobe?
I'm not sure that I could pin this down overall, but right now I am living in a thin knitted white jumper from H&M. It was only £7.99 and is just the most perfect spring basic, I've included it in my March Favourites so you can read more about it here!

8. What do you do in your free time?
Blog! Whether its writing my own posts or reading others, I spend the majority of my free time (and my procrastination time) reading blogs and watching YouTube videos. I also love wandering around towns in the daytime, shopping, going out for food and having cosy nights in with films and friends.

9. What is your current favourite social network?

10. What have you gained from blogging?
I definitely think I've gained writing experience. As I said earlier it is very nice not to solely write about academic things and to write about my passions instead. Also I feel like blogging has really made me see the beauty in things I used to take for granted. For example where I used to just wander around my local town or go to the beach without a thought for how stunning it is, now I take lots of photos in case I want to blog them, zooming in on beautiful details that I otherwise would probably glance over.

11. Who is your favourite YouTuber?
Tanya Burr! She was the first YouTuber I really got obsessed with and I always feel so uplifted and refreshed by her videos! I am also an avid watcher of Zoella, Beauty Crush, Lily Pebbles and Hello October; if you haven't watched any of these girls or read their blogs, I'd recommend you do so, stat.

I'm sorry it's not quite 15, these are the only blogs screaming out to me at the moment aside from ones with millions of followers already! As I said, I'm doing this post more as the Inspiring Blog Award rather than the Liebster so I won't be including my own set of questions, but if you are interested in answering any please leave me a comment on my previous Liebster post as I love chatting to you all!
