1. Why did you start blogging?
I've had blogs on and off since I was around 14 but always used deleted them out of shyness when I found out that someone I knew was reading them! Having grown a lot more confidence since then and realising I spend much more of my time than is sensible reading fashion and beauty blogs, I figured it was time to start my own for good. I think a blog is a great way to express creative ideas and opinions, plus its lovely to speak to people from all over the world that you may not get the chance to otherwise!
2. What inspires you?
In terms of fashion and work, something that Grace Coddington said in 'The September Issue' has really stuck with me,
"Always keep your eyes open...Keep watching because whatever you see out the window or wherever, it can inspire you."
I would definitely cite two of my biggest sources of inspiration as Vogue and cinema. Mediums that pay such great attention to aesthetic detail are a sure fire source of inspiration, as well as social media, street style, books and definitely other bloggers! In terms of more emotional inspiration I would definitely say my Mum, she is the strongest and most hardworking person I know, as well as the kindest. No one could have given me the same emotional strength that she has and I would be absolutely lost without her!
3. Where would you most like to visit?
There are several places on my To-Go list but the top place has got to be New York. I've dreamt of going there for as long as I can remember and its getting silly that I haven't been yet.
4. Who is your favourite artist/designer and why?
Some that immediately spring to mind are fashion illustrator Hayden Williams (who I blogged about previously here), Elie Saab, Niagara Detroit, Zuhair Murad, Coco Chanel and Alphonse Mucha.
5. What is your favourite book?
The Great Gatsby is one of my favourites and I also thoroughly enjoyed reading The Bell Jar. Also, lest we forget the Harry Potter series; unbeatable bedtime reading.
6. Name one of your favourite blogs with the most interesting posts to follow
I've just recently discovered Renée Reardin and I really love her posts; they are so varied but always manage to be both informative and inspiring!
7. What is your favourite beauty item?
A favourite of mine that I am all out of at the moment and am really missing is Benefit's They're Real! mascara. I desperately need to repurchase it as none of the other mascaras I have at the moment compare. Also I am a life long lover of J'adore Dior, my favourite scent.
8. What are 3 items you cannot live without?
I'm terrible at questions like this as I'm so indecisive! I'm going to do this in terms of the three main themes that my blog revolves around as I can't possibly fathom life or death items right now.
Fashion: One of my embellished Topshop jumpers, black jeans and black Chelsea boots - despite Topshop not being one of my favourite retailers, it seems that they do cater to my essential needs!
Beauty: They're Real! mascara, Boots coconut oil and Magnesium tablets - coconut oil is fantastic for your hair and skin, as well as doubling up as a natural sunblock, whilst Magnesium tablets help to keep stress at bay; I can't explain the difference in my stress levels since taking this supplement daily, I would 100% recommend it.
Lifestyle: my phone or iPad, a good book and a set of silk pyjamas - this was the toughest section, but I guess if I can curl up comfortably and access the outside world on my phone, these would be my holy lifestyle trinity!
9. What is your biggest fear?
Spiders? Or maybe ketchup, I do have an irrational dislike/phobia of ketchup.
10. Name something you are passionate about and why
It would be easy to say fashion or writing here, but instead I'm going to choose something more fundamentally important. I am very passionate about the awareness that needs to be raised regarding human trafficking. There are more people in slavery now than there have ever been and it is an issue that gets nowhere near as much attention as it should. If you are interested in helping to raise awareness (which is one of the key steps to stopping slavery), take a look at the Somaly Mam Foundation website for more information.
11. What is your lifetime ambition?
That isn't something I have set in stone. I have many things I'd like to achieve, two of which include travelling to more of the places I'm desperate to visit and contributing in one way or another to Vogue.
