An Update

So after 2 days of actual blogging, resulting in 8 posts, I have gained 70 views! I had no idea my ramblings were that interesting, so thank you, you lovely people, for taking a gander; a particular thanks to those that read my Somaly Mam Foundation post, a charity very important to me that really do need to gain some more followers! @SomalyMam http://www.somaly.org/about-smf/somaly-mam

My lack of posts recently is due to a lack of general activity, there's been nothing of great, insightful, bloggable interest to really write about! I'm sure I'll pick up soon as this is my last week of Fresherhood (daunting but exciting, plus I'm very ready to go home to my mummy for a roast dinner and a hot bath!), so expect frequent updates of what I've been getting up to.

As you know, I've been reading Plath's The Bell Jar, and whilst having a relaxing weekend at my boyfriend's house I polished it off. It is a fantastic read that I would recommend to anyone, and has one of those endings which makes you go 'hmmm'. It made me think for a while after and has stuck with me since, but in a positive and inquisitive manner. However, what with this being my summer of reading I am moving on to the next; Oscar Wilde's The Picture of Dorian Gray. I am one page in but it is already pretty captivating so I'm expecting good things from this!

However since finishing Plath, I've been lacking in reading! It may only have been a few days but I don't want here and there to turn into habit; I haven't done nearly as much reading/painting/gymming as I'd hoped! However I have had a lovely few days so I guess I can't complain. Here is some photographic evidence of said lovely days, featuring pre-drinks, a night out in Smack, and the Warwick Summer Party. I also just purchased (much to my bank account's dismay) this little number for a friend's birthday shindig come Saturday night. I'll be moving out of Halls on the Friday so this should be the perfect end to an incredible year! So fingers crossed this fits!

Somaly Mam Foundation

The Somaly Mam Foundation is a charity run by trafficking survivor Somaly Mam herself. It supports survivors of human trafficking and sex slavery and fights daily to prevent it. It is an incredibly underrated non-profit charity that targets a very overlooked issue that is becoming more and more prominent in Western society as well as the more expected parts of the world such as South East Asia. To find out more please check out this link, as well as following them and their fellow activist groups on Twitter and Facebook.

@SomalyMam

There are currently more slaves in the world than there have even been in human history. This has to change. Somaly Mam is an inspiration to people everywhere, and deserves far more attention towards her cause. There are many ways to get involved, such as donating to the charity or raising awareness through social media. I recently purchased one of my best friends an Empowerment Pendant for her birthday after she had complimented the one that I had bought last year. They are beautiful and help such an amazing cause.

The pendant symbolises the ending of human trafficking and slavery through the action of hands and the compassion of hearts, and can be purchased here: http://www.empowermentstore.org/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=EmpowermentPendant

Help STOP human trafficking.

Dreaming of NYC

The sky has just decided to throw bucket fulls of water on my roof, and I'm listening to Yayo (the Lana Del Rey song after which my blog is named). Meanwhile, a friend of mine has just gone to New York for a few months, everyone seems to be tweeting about America and reading The Bell Jar certainly isn't helping my NYC craving.

All photos belong to their rightful sources; found on tumblr/google. Oh and all photos make me want to sell all my belongings for a plane ticket too.

A large percentage of my me time is spent on tumblr, oggling pictures of beautiful places that I hope to visit. If you want to find more of these, check out my tumblr to locate them back to their sources ashowforyoutiger.tumblr.com This post will be dedicated to these places, and all credit goes to tumblr for the photographs.

breathtaking

The only painstakingly annoying thing about these beautiful photos is not knowing exactly where they are! Looks like I'm going on a life long mission to find them. In fact that sounds great.

Paris

So, in order to get started, I feel I should get you up to speed with what's been going on recently. But rather than giving you my life story, we'll start with 2012 - far more condensed.

My 2012 began in the same way anyone else's did. A New Years Eve party, which saying that I didn't make the end of (I was passed out in bed by 11.30 - fail) with all of my friends from home. A few short days later I was back at uni ready to take on term 2, but being the kind of person I am, I needed something to look forward to. And thus, a long overdue trip to Paris was booked. Best few days EVER. I've been craving going back since I touched back down in the UK, which when you're spending your uni days in Coventry, isn't surprising.

This last one has to be up there with my favourite moments yet; standing under the Eiffel Tower at 11.59pm on Valentines Day with my boyfriend, waiting for it to glitter. AMAZING.
